Hi I'm Berkeley. I am from Colorado and I am in 7th grade. This year I will be going on a service trip to Nicaragua with Children's Global Alliance. I hope that this will help be more aware of what is happening in my world. I will be helping children with special needs in Nicaragua. Some passions of mine are doing crafts, learning different languages like French and American Sign Language. I am very eager to learn Spanish and sign language so I can communicate with the kids. Through my research I have learned that sign language is not a universal language like I thought it was. I learned about CGA when a fellow student went on a service trip with CGA and was fundraising at my school.
Currently I am playing hockey in a 12U division with my girls team the Mountaineers. I also am going to start playing basketball in January on my school team. Right now I am doing a unicycling club on Thursdays and am making great progress.
My family is very supportive of me and are very excited that I got this opportunity to go to Nicaragua, but it does mean that I will miss spring break. That will be a big change considering that I have never been away on my own for spring break before.
